Halloween and Daylight Saving Oct 2024/01

Greetings Highgate,

Thank you for subscribing to the HitList, your free fortnightly listing of events and activities in and around Highgate! Some of you have commented on the lack of pictures in the most recent HitList so I want to explain why this is; there is always so much going on in Highgate that the 'old' HitList, where I listed events with a wee bit of a blurb and often a photo, was becoming unmanageable for me to produce, hence the 'new' HitList with its pared down presentation, minimal text and only one or two pictures - but still offering a virtual plethora of activities so I am quite sure you will find something to enjoy; and as previously, children's events are highlighted in pink.

As the nights draw in and the light slowly dims I am reminded it is that time of year again - Daylight saving and Halloween! Clocks go back on 27th October and from this date our beloved Waterlow Park closes at 5pm - but for barely a week before the Park closing time becomes even earlier at 4.30pm from the 4th November. But that does mean it's well and truly dark by early evening for spooky Halloween events - speaking of which, why not plan a jaunt into the countryside to pick your own pumpkin? Here is a list of North London PYO pumpkin farms: Instagram @playdatesanddatenights or North London Pumpkins However if, like me, you're quite happy to have someone else pick your pumpkins, in the coming weeks you'll find a good local selection in the High street at Greens of Highgate and at Village Flowers Highgate.

Sending good wishes from high on Highgate Hill ....

Helen
